Compression Utilities
A file/folder compression is an operation that compresses the data to a lower than original volume. That data can be decompressed later to its original form. The compressed file may be used to carry the data in a portable drive and to consume less space while doing that. It may also be used to keep back-ups , back-ups that consume less space than original data. The Windows operating system comes pre-built with the Zip compression option. Other popular compression options are: tar, 7z, tar.gz, and more… On a Windows Computer you may get the option to compress and decompress from any of these formats by installing the very popular WinRAR tool.
